Why the Callan method?  

From our experience, we can strongly assert that the Callan Method is the fastest method for teaching English. Since the method has been invented, in 1960, it has been demonstrated its infallibility.

The essence of the Callan Method is that each student will talk in English for the entire duration of the lesson. As a matter of fact, the only way to learn a language is to speak it!

What is the Callan method?  

The Callan Method is a so called ‘direct method’ specifically created to embrace the understanding and the abilities of practicing a particular word or a grammatical expression in an intense but still comfortable atmosphere.

The teaching ‘question-answer’ formula of the lesson guarantees the active participation of every student to it, with the teacher holding the lesson to a constant and natural rhythm, as in the everyday communication.

The guarantee   

Every student who study with the Callan Method receives one written guarantee in which is specified the number of hours necessary to pass the Cambridge examination. If in the rare event of and in relation with the previewed number of hours, the student has not succeed in his examination, there will come the guarantee of free lessons until the achievement of the English Cambridge certificate.

Speed is essential    

A language is normally spoken at an average of 180 words per minute. Teachers at the Callan School normally speak to the student with approximately 240 words per minute; this is done in order to facilitate the student in the everyday life outside the school.

Conditioned reflex

To learn a language, like learning how to typewrite or how to play the piano, is mainly an issue of conditioned reflex.

Do not think

A conditioned reflex in a language comes from the mouth and not from the brain. The student must learn to speak and to understand without thinking.

A fast conditioned reflex can only develop with a mechanical repletion.

The most common 1000 words 

Book 1 of the Callan Method contains the most used 1000 words, i.e. “like, go, black, white, quickly, slowly”, these are words that are used many times over the day and they must be used by the student in a fast manner without thinking.

Different teachers, same results

Naturally every student can have some preference in relation to teachers; the Callan School however guarantees the same results with every individual teacher, even if the student has a different number of teachers and changes his class many times.

The Callan certificate  

At the end of every Callan English course, every student obtains a Callan certificate that attests the frequency and the level of English achieved.
