The Callan School, London
The
Callan School of English is the largest English School
in Europe. It was Founded in 1960 and it’s located in
the city centre.
We want the student to break the habit of translating
into their mother tongue before speaking and speed
denies them the time to do so. It also exposes them to
the speed of the natural native speech.
The classes revolve around quick-fire oral question and
answer work. The teacher uses a book that is full of
questions. Each question practices a particular word,
expression or grammatical item.
The role of the teacher is to ask these questions to the
students at high speed, help the student to make a
sentence in response to the question by prompting and 'feeding'
the answer, and correct when errors are made.
Because of the Callan School's relatively small classes
of 6 to 14 students, (the average being 8), the Callan
students enjoy at least 40% more speaking time than at
most other schools.
The large size of the School allows it to grade students
far more accurately than other schools and to fit them
into courses at exactly their level and speed of
learning.
Cambridge exams in a quarter of
the time taken by any other school in London. It has a 95%
pass rate for such exams.

The Callan School gives every student
a legally-valid written guarantee that it will get him to
the level of (and through) the Cambridge exams in a quarter
of the time taken by any other school in London.
