Metoda Callana

Według uniwersytetu Cambridge, przeciętnemu poczatkujacemu studentowi uczacemu sie w prywatnych szkołach na terenie całego świata potrzeba 350 godzin nauki (4 lata akademickie) do osiagniecia poziomu egzaminu Preliminary.

Rezultat ten osiągany jest w ciagu 80 godzin (1 roku akademickiego) w szkołach Callana za granica. Według nowych badań, przygotowanie do tego egzaminu w przeciętnej londynskiej szkole trwa 593 godziny (około 10 miesięcy), co objęte jest kosztem £2965, podczas gdy w szkole Callana rezultaty te osiągane są po 100 godzinach (około 2.5 mies.) co zawiera się w cenie £427.

Studenci w Londynie studiują dłużej niż studenci za granicą ponieważ uczą się oni 3 godziny dziennie (co jest męczące), oraz w zrόżnicowanym narodowościowo otoczeniu (co jest dezoriętujące). W przciętnej londyńskiej szkole przygotowanie do Cambridge First Certificate zabiera 1186 godzin (około 20 mies.) i objęte jest kosztem £5930, podczas gdy w Szkole Callana trwa to jedynie 200 godzin (około 5 miesięcy) i zawiera się w cenie £854. Szkoła Callana gwarantuje sukces w obu egzaminach- Preliminary oraz First certificate.
 

Not answering questions
We are not teaching people to answer questions, but to make full sentences, practise target lexis and structure in a controlled way. We aim to develop accuracy, fluency, and the ability to understand and think in English.

The Method does not teach just conversation
Because the Callan Method teaches English through a process of quick-fire questions and answers, it gives the student the impression that it just teaches conversation and not the other aspects of the language. Like so many other things that people conclude about the Method, this is totally untrue. The Method teaches the student all the grammar and how to write to the level of the Cambridge First Certificate. Because it teaches these things through easy conversation it appears that it does not teach them at all: it seems all too easy – and yet, as if by magic, the student passes the Cambridge exams.
